Every NVCC campus has counselors available to assist students with academic and personal needs including academic advising, career counseling , disability services, and transfer planning. The IT Help Desk provides first-level technical support to students of Northern Virginia Community College. They are dedicated to servicing the computer and technology needs of all students by providing detailed resolutions and general system information for common problems.

Northern Virginia Community College, as a member of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements, has reciprocal agreements with most states to allow students living in those states to take online courses through NOVA Online.
