Getting Involved

Taking online courses should not exclude you from student involvement and leadership experiences. NOVA Online Student Life is here to support you by creating opportunities and sharing of resources to get engaged outside of the virtual classroom.

The college experience is a transformative journey, and your participation in online student life opportunities plays a grand role in broadening your experience. By becoming involved, you are able to make connections with the college and other students, engage in activities, explore different interests, and acquire skills that will support your development both on a personal and professional level. The benefits are infinite, and involved students are not only more likely to graduate, but they describe having a higher contentment with their college experience.

Getting involved gives you practical experience to not only add to your resume, but critical skills for your personal and professional development.

Clubs and Organizations

Student clubs and organizations offer students the opportunity to join in educational, governmental, cultural, political and/or special interest-focused settings. Through clubs and organizations, students can assume various leadership roles in carrying out the group's mission. Organizations contribute a range of perspectives to the overall college community and thus enrich the academic environment and campus life for all students.

Community Involvement

On behalf of NOVA Student Life, we encourage you to reflect on how you can be more civically engaged in your community. Civic engagement helps highlight important issues affecting your community, and it can help empower you with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to create purposeful change.

Leadership

Leadership development is an important aspect of personal growth in college, even as an online student. Being involved in leadership programs and positions helps teach important life skills such as decision-making, problem-solving, teamwork, and a healthy belief in yourself and your abilities.
